To provide the opportunity to assist in the development and planning of summer activities hosted by the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. The internship will provide training and work experience in an livestock organization within the agricultural industry.

Applicants should be a sophomore, junior or senior in college.
They should have an agriculture-related major field of study.
The applicant should be detail-oriented, outgoing, work well with all types of people and be a self-starter who can work on their own.

The internship will start on or before May 13 and go through August 2 depending on the availability of the person hired for the internship. The selected person will also be expected to help with the 35th Annual OCA Ranch Rodeo August 22 - 23, 2019.

The primary events the intern will assist with are the OJCA Summer Preview Show held in June and the OCA Annual Convention & Trade Show held in July while gaining exposure to different activities a grassroots organization hosts and participates in as well as a brief glimpse of legislative work. The intern may be asked to assist staff with additional tasks.

For the OJCA Summer Preview Show, the intern will assist the OJCA Coordinator and Board of Directors in the management and execution of the 2019 OJCA Summer Preview Show. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: data entry, organizing merchandise, coordinating any show vendors and assisting with show and contest set-up.

For the OCA Annual Convention & Trade Show, the intern will assist the OCA staff in preparing for and hosting the Annual OCA Convention & Trade Show while learning various roles of event coordination. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: seeking donations from multiple locations to benefit the OK BEEF PAC Silent Auction, assist with preparations of AV presentations for multiple meetings, coordinate speaker AV needs, assist with convention attendee registration and preparation and ensure proper sponsor recognition is displayed during convention sessions.

In lieu of hourly compensation, a $2,000 scholarship will be paid to the university the student will be enrolled in for the Fall 2019 semester. Work related travel will be reimbursed.
